If you are asexual, or ace for short, you might feel little or no sexual attraction towards others, male or female. Perhaps you might need to gain confidence and get to know a person and feel safe being with them, or just hate the thought of having sex and getting naked around people. It may bring on feelings of awkward uneasiness when watching television or at the movies when scenes get a little saucy.
There could be another category to consider if not totally asexual. If a person needs to totally get to know someone and be safe and comfortable around them, then the thought of engaging in sexual activity could be on the cards. This may well be Demi-sexuality.
Could ‘slow and steady’ win the race for the ace? Over time can bring a person to hold hands, cuddle and kiss? It all depends on the degree of asexuality and whether the confidence level can be gained sooner.
The term asexual isn’t mentioned too often and some people would rather refer to someone as prudish or a devout Christian. These could be life choices and not so much the make-up of who you are.
When was the last time you saw an asexual portrayed in a movie or television? Probably never! There may have been some minor roles but not in the lead? I don’t recall ever seeing that. No more supporting roles, how about a leading role please.
